Newlands, because the road is ours
Kilmarnock Road runs north from Newlands to Shawlands Cross. We're near the Cross end, at number 44. If you live down the road, this is a walk, not a day out: beef mince for mince and tatties, potatoes from the front, maybe a chicken cut up for the next two nights. Pollokshaws sits just to the west, and Pollokshaws East station is about 10 minutes from the shop if you'd rather ride the Cathcart Circle than walk the whole way.
Giffnock, on the East Kilbride line
Giffnock and Thornliebank are on the line from East Kilbride into Glasgow. The train runs direct to Crossmyloof, which is under a 10 minute walk from the door. That is the sensible Giffnock trip: one train, no change, then a short walk past the Cross.
Giffnock orders are often the big ones. A family lamb, or a week's worth of chicken and shoulder, asked for a day or two before so it isn't a surprise at the counter. Use order ahead and collect it. We don't deliver to Giffnock.
Don't mix the two plans up
Walking from Newlands with a whole lamb is a story you will only do once. Taking the train from Giffnock for 300g of mince is fine, and people do it, but it isn't the same errand. Decide which day yours is before you leave the house.
