What the aisle actually holds
Basmati in 500g, 1kg and 2kg packs and 5kg bags, including sella for biryani and pulao. Spices whole and ground, in small packs and in the big bags the everyday ones come in. Chapati flour, red lentils and the other daals, tins of chickpeas. Pickles and chutneys. Sauces for a roast as well as a grill, because Glasgow cooks both. Afghan and Persian bits such as lavashak, the sour fruit leather, and Persian biscuits. If it isn't on the shelf, ask at the till. We'd rather say so than have you guess.
The fresh things, every day
Coriander, mint, green chillies, onions, tomatoes, ginger and garlic. Not 'when the delivery feels like it'. Every day. Seasonal fruit sits out front, and it changes. The fruit and veg page is the honest list.
Why it's in a butcher's
A karahi is not finished by the meat alone. The cook who has just asked for shoulder in bone-in pieces still needs the tomatoes, the chilli and the rice. Walking to another supermarket for those is how dinner gets abandoned. The counter is at the end of the aisle on purpose.
For the longer Pakistani and Afghan list, the what to buy page matches dishes to the shelves. The full grocery page goes aisle by aisle. We don't deliver the shopping. You carry it, from Shawlands.
